We're doing a teaching series at Kings at the moment called "Citizens", investigating - as the name implies - how citizens of heaven can be good citizens of earth. In the first talk, based on Romans 13:1-10, I sketched how Christians should think about, and respond to, civil government. The gist of it, and the reason for reading through to verse 10 rather than stopping at verse 7, is that since we have political power, we ought to vote on the basis of love for our neighbour (or what is often called the common good). If you're still deliberating about how to vote, or wondering how to think about issues like immigration, welfare, economics and so on, take a look at the series here.
